Overview:

The Integrated Services Group within the Integrated Operations Support Division (IOSD) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a full-time Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) System Specialist to provide information system support to the Facilities and Operations (F&O) Directorate. The successful candidate will work as a member of the Information Systems team to provide system administration supporting the equipment, processes, and services provided by the F&O Directorate. This position will be a key liaison to Information Technology Services Directorate staff and fosters a strong partnership with F&O Directorate and ORNL data owners to maintain and improve system operation for functions. This is including but not limited to facility and asset management, utilities distribution, logistical services, instrument calibration, and emergency services. This position is responsible for user support, requirements analysis and development, testing, implementation, and management of facilities and work management systems and processes. This includes supporting end users, maintaining system data, performing data analysis and reporting, and ensuring compliance with data regulations and security protocols.

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Functional system administrator for key facility information/work management systems that support asset management, equipment maintenance and repair, calibration and inspection activities, materials inventory, mobile data processes, and work planning and control for operations, maintenance, and services.

  • Support maintenance of systems and equipment data and structures, related nameplate and operational information, and preventive maintenance schedules

  • Provide end user support for configuration and administration of mobile device applications for work order processing, equipment updates, and parts management.

  • Leverage technology to recommend, test, and implement integrated solutions that improve efficiency of Facilities and Operations Directorate processes.

  • Assist with functional system administration and work with IT professionals to implement and test system improvements, changes, and software upgrades.

  • Develop documentation and training materials on system functions and provides training to users, as needed.

  • Benchmark industry, vendor, association, and other agencies concerning best practices. 

  • Support software quality assurance, documentation, and associated records management.

  • Provide excellent customer service to both research and support organizations including strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Develop customer relationships, align operations to missions and assure customer satisfaction.

  • Audit and assess validity and consistency of data and recommend process changes to maintain or improve data integrity.

  • Build and maintain a work environment that promotes collaboration, trust, performance, feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee engagement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering, information systems, or relevant field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and progressive relative experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge/experience with enterprise asset management (EAM) or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), like HxGN EAM, SAP, or Maximo. 

  • Working knowledge/experience with asset/maintenance management concepts and processes.

  • Experience working with operations, maintenance, or production organizations.

  • Business management skills, written and oral communication skills, analytical skills, negotiating skills, and project management skills.

  • Background in software support or customer service with direct end-user contact.

  • Experience or familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement processes.

  • Experience using or administering enterprise-level, on-premises IT applications is desirable.

  • Experience managing mobile device deployment including hardware and application administration.
