Job Description

Position Summary:

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking a Lead IT Support Consultant to manage a team of technologists/project coordinators. Provides advanced knowledge and installation requirements of IT hardware in small to large scale IT projects that are on campus, as well as remote locations in the state of Iowa. Participation in project administration, inventory management and schedule management.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to define and lay out the overall project work plan for the development and implementation of required technologies.
  • Continually communicates with key contacts from within the hospital and external vendors, while maintaining awareness of the project scope and objectives, and the overall project requirements and timeline.
  • Applies a broad understanding of supported technologies.
  • Creates standard configurations for supported technologies for the facility.
  • Translates processes and procedures into manageable work plans activities.
  • Works with the various development and implementation standards
  • Understand standards, but also can help force change when needed.
  • Troubleshoots and provides technical support on the hardware, software applications and integrations.
  • May provide direct end user assistance and consultation.
  • Oversees the delivery of training programs.
  • May train users in large group, small group, and/or one-on-one sessions.
  • Prepares and updates system documentation to ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Detailed project progress documentation tracking
  • Maintaining project timelines documentation
  • Strategizes procedures to improve efficiencies.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in budget development.
  • Administrative employee management
  • Staff coaching and development.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation, as required, to resolve routine and/or complex problems as they arise.

Creating and maintaining a positive, productive, and rewarding environment for information technology and communication staff.

Pay Grade:

Salary: $65,688.00 to commensurate - 5B

Education Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience Requirements

  • Experience (typically 5-7 years) providing technical support for complex integrated systems, applications, and services.
  • Experience with Microsoft O365 applications.
  • Technical project coordination or project leadership experience
  • Employment management experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to move and install equipment.
  • Strong customer service and collaboration background

Desired Qualifications

  • Able to read and interpret architectural layouts.
  • Experience with Bluebeam or other collaboration type applications
  • Experience with change management, continuous improvement initiatives, ITIL, LEAN and/or project management
  • Experience working in a Health Care IT environment.
  • Experience with analysis, planning, estimating, and scheduling of high-risk, high-impact IT project.
