The City of Dallas is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill vacancies for Reserve Police Officers. These are intermittent, volunteer positions.
Application Process:
All qualified candidates must:
Successfully complete a Frontline Test or POST exam with a minimum score of 70% on each portion of the test.
Complete the Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT).
Submit a City of Dallas application.
Applicants are responsible for arranging their own testing through the National Testing Network (NTN). If you have completed the ORPAT and/or POST with another department, you may submit your results on department letterhead with your application.

The Dallas Police Department serves a population of approximately 16,500 residents. The department includes sworn police officers, civilian staff members, and dedicated volunteers who serve as reserve police officers, chaplains, and office assistants. The members of the Dallas Police Department are committed to the safety of the community and providing excellent customer service. Located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, Dallas is just 13 miles west of Salem, close to the coast, and near beautiful vineyards and wineries. Dallas offers a central location with easy access to a variety of attractions.

Job Requirements:
Age: Minimum 21 years old (per DPSST requirements)
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required
High School Grad/GED: Required
Valid Oregon Driver's License: Required
Ability to Read/Speak English: Required
Vision: Must meet DPSST standards (visual acuity corrected to 20/20, normal color discrimination, and peripheral vision)
Training: Once selected, candidates must complete the Mid Valley Reserve Training Academy.
Disqualifiers:
Felony/Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Refer to OAR for details on felony and criminal disqualifiers.
Driving Disqualifiers: Must comply with the City of Dallas Driving Policy. Refer to OAR for a full list of driving disqualifiers.
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Must pass a drug screen prior to employment. Refer to OAR for additional drug use disqualifiers.
Financial Disqualifiers: Refer to OAR for financial disqualifiers.
The Dallas Police Department will evaluate candidates based on their overall suitability, considering their history in the areas listed above.
