Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project/Cost Accountant to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the month-end close process, preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies, managing project costs and budgets, and providing support for business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate/development project cost accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals related to property development projects.
• Generate and analyze financial statements, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project managers and other departments to gather financial data and support business decisions.
• Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes specific to property development.
• Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
• Track and report on project costs, budgets, and forecasts.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable related to development projects.
• Monitor cash flow and funding requirements for ongoing projects.
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of experience in real estate/development project cost accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in Yardi required.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial analysis tools.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
