Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Assists in administering Microsoft Server network. Install, configure, patch and maintain network operating systems. Assists with agency network security programs and reports any breach of security to the security administrator. Provides technical support throughout the agency via the helpdesk. Responsible for collecting service statistics and preparing reports to facilitate capacity planning.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists with administering Microsoft services. Ensures compatibility requirements between central office and the facilities. Manage service utilization/performance studies to ensure network services are adequate and recommends appropriate actions.
- Primary Tier 2 desktop support for Lansing Correctional Facility.
- Plan, configure and ensure adequate data backups are being performed on a daily basis. Responsible for installing and managing virus software system wide.
- Develops and provides training materials on multiple levels of applications software and technology hardware. Assists with desktop image management. Provides central program support and troubleshooting, downloading software via the Internet to install or reinstall software programs to enable data to be exchanged with a central data warehouse. Diagnoses and repairs equipment utilizing in-house tools and works with vendors to resolve advanced support issues.
Qualifications
- Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent
Licensing & Certification : Must possess a valid driver's license.
Minimum Qualifications : One (1) year advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : Must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties. May be required to pass a background check.
